Issue 黄皮书 110 As speaker’s claim that in the long river of history, children who awfully determined the developing trend of their country are the potential main-force to the society all along. However, I disagree with the statement in two respects. First, granted that children are an important counter of the society, the depth of their socialization is but a tiny part to the fate of society. Second, each person has a different definition towards so-called “better society”, in a result, different education methods and modes are formed. First, undefeatable, children do have a magnificent influence to their nations; nevertheless, it is still not enough for their force to dominate the social destiny. Various factors could act on the flourish of the society, for instance, the policies of contemporary dominator, the impact of the natural power, the inter-relation of the social globalization. Moreover, comparing with children who lack of independent and mature reasoning ability, juveniles tend to be obvious much more important for the social benefit, so it is more suitable to consider their socialize adaptation beforehand. In short, the destiny of the society depends on the co-influence of multiple in force powers but not only the children’s. At the same time, even if children is the main avant-courier of future society, that does not means the fate of the society only determined in their socialization extend, however, it also depends on many other sections. Consider, for example, different thought ways they were breathed into, different philosophy of the world or of human life each child hold, or even the different natural gift, ability or quality each child possessed would drive the child unique to one another. Furthermore, premature socialization is quite harmful for their innocent minds and their inherent extraordinary invitation and imagination which were considered crucial and fundamental to a society’s innovation and development. That is to say, whether a society would reach to a prospered level can not be foreshadowed simply by the depth of its children’s socialization, in the contrary; children’s above-socialization might even result to a negative influence on the social development. At last, due to different demands, which form of education is the most suitable, beneficial, comprehensive and helpful for children to better the society is still a puzzle. As the speakers claim that not so much information about child-raising could be found on the books or other materials, so people have to keep engage in seeking their own way to raise his or her child. Different child have his or her unique characteristic and inclination, for instance, some of they are fond of social history, while some of they are interest in astronomy, etc, so it is not necessary and also impossible to up to a uniform education pattern. One-to-one education and cultivation is good enough. In sum, there is no substitute for children’s potential significant influence toward the contemporary and future society, unfortunately, as the whole future society is like a large room, the influence of children is just like a door, though which we can reach to the future; while without the protective wall built by all the other elements, this room can not be called a room and therefore the door will lose its use at all. Accordingly, children is not the only judge of the social development and destiny, moreover, they can not be simply raised up successfully as people’s expectation according the same dogmata.

In short, the destiny of the society depends on the co-influence of multiple in force powers but not only the children’s. 文笔不错,但我感觉有些跑题,是否应该重点论述socialization? 比方说:虽然此说法有点道理,但是说children socialization determine destiny of society有点过分了。而且,什么是儿童社会化?儿童社会化本是一个褒义,即儿童参与社会行为。但是此事应该有个度,不是越早越好和越深入越好。比如有些孩子的父母远离他们,他们不得不尽早挣钱养活自己,失去了教育的机会,也就是失去了进一步社会化的能力,换言之,是社会化不完全。

That is to say, whether a society would reach to a prospered level can not be foreshadowed simply by the depth of its children’s socialization, on the contrary; children’s above-socialization might even result in a negative influence on the social development. 这一点我认为你的思路是对的,可以部分赞同原题。正确和错误的社会化都可以影响社会。但能否determine却值得商榷。因为觉得destiny的因素还很多,比如历史背景、经济状况、文化差异等。贫穷国家往往儿童社会化过早,小小年级就父母双亡,不得不拖着幼小孱弱的身躯干苦力,来养活自己和比自己还小的弟弟妹妹。发达社会中,虽然看似社会化较早,如在小学或中学就学会了进入社会的技能,但是这些都是在妥善保护下的“模拟器”,与贫穷的孩子不可同日而语。事实上,是社会的“大势”决定了儿童社会化的样式和程度,而不是反过来。

One-to-one education and cultivation is good enough. 你的方向正确,但分析不够深入。We have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society很荒唐。这样的孩子压根不存在,因为真正决定社会的是成年人,孩子变成成年人后变化极大。比方说我们小时候都被教育遵守规则,但成年后机会没有人敢说从未违规过。第二,所谓better society也仅仅是虚无缥缈的乌托邦。既然目标不明确,寄希望于孩子来达到这样的目标就很可笑。
In sum, there is no substitute for children’s potential significant influence toward the contemporary and future society, unfortunately, as the whole future society is like a large room, the influence of children is just like a door, though which we can access the future; while without the protective wall built by all the other elements, this room can not be called a room and therefore the door will lose its use at all. 整个论调其实是充满了悲观主义色彩,期待孩子来完成一个虚无的目标,把儿童社会化与这个目标联系起来,进而突出悲观倾向。
